Questions for 9/28 readings

1. The sound matters reading discusses how a voice can help a reader focus on words. Does that take away from the meaning of the words and add more emphasis on sound or vice versa?

2. The "sound envelope" insinuates that sound is an event in time. What about in all these movies where the music or sound is used to describe a period or a moment in time? Is it not an event by the definition of a sound "sound envelope"?

3. I've always thought of silence as a deliberate decision to put emphasis on other forms of media (visual,text..etc.) Is that the only relationship that exists with silence?
